At Hitzfelder Moving, we've done our best to create a Web site that anticipates and satisfies our customers' needs. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. What services do you offer?
We offer a full range of packing and moving services. This includes local moves, state wide moves, loading and unloading of rental trucks and storage’s, and full service packing.

When should I call a moving company?
You should call a moving company as soon as you know that you are moving. You can get a phone or in house estimate, so you can budget for your move. That way, when you have your desired moving date, we will be able to set up the amount of time required for your move.

Do I need an estimate?
Yes. For moves big or small. We will need to give you an estimate to allot the correct amount of time for your move. For small moves, you can get an estimate over the phone from one of our experienced staff. For larger moves, upon request, we can have one of our experienced staff members come to your home and survey the items to be moved. He will make sure the right truck and crew will be there to make your move go quickly, smoothly and most cost effectively.

How long does it take to move?
This depends on many factors, including the size of the shipment, the distance you will be moving, weather conditions, if you have stairs and the time of year.
 
When and how do I pay?
Upon completion of your move, the crew chief will have a totaled invoice. He will collect cash or check. We DO NOT take credit/debit cards. On rental truck load ups, it is cash ONLY.

Can I pack clothes in my dresser drawers?
We recommend that you only leave light weight clothing in drawers. That way it does not overload the piece of furniture and cause damage to it. You must empty all paper, jewelry, anything that might break or spill, money and all other personal possessions from all drawers.

If it is raining the day of the move, is that a problem?
No. As long as you are willing to move in the rain, we are. It just takes longer to get the move done. The movers can not go as fast. If you do not want to move in the rain, we ask you call the office by 7:30am the day of the move to set up an alternate date. If a crew is sent to your home, and you refuse to move, you will be charged a 2 hour minimum.

Can I ride along in the truck or help load/unload the moving truck?
No.     We can not allow customers in our vehicles for liability reasons.

Do I tip the movers?
Tipping is not required, but many people do. You should decide based on the quality of the move that you received. Those that do tip, tend to give either a percentage of the entire move or a dollar amount per crew member. In the end, you should only tip an amount you are comfortable with.
 
Should I move jewelry and other valuables myself?
Yes. We are not responsible for the moving of jewelry, money and
gun type items.

Unfortunately one of my items was damaged in the move. What should I do?
We are sorry that there was a damage on your move. Unfortunately it can happen in the service industry. Give us a call. We will inform you as to how to take care of the damage.
